Our Kaupapa

We believe and operate by Te Aho Matua principles. For us, the successfulness and happiness of our tamariki is paramount and everything we do reflects this. Download Te Aho Matua

Our tamariki learn through play. The interests they express guide our kaupapa. To keep our parents informed, learning stories are documented in tamaiti portfolios.

Te Puna Reo Maori o Nga Maungarongo supports healthy eating. Lunch boxes contain fruits, vegetables and healthy sandwiches. To give our tamariki a healthy appreciation for kai we grow our own vegetables on site.

TheWhanau

Whanau have an integral role to play in operation and the governance of Te Puna Reo Maori o Nga Maungarongo. Whanau of the Te Puna Reo o Nga Maungarongo who have tamariki enrolled in the centre and/or are kaimahi have a vital role to play in the successful running and forward planning of our Puna. We believe whanau are central to the learning and teaching of their tamariki.

Learning begins at home and therefore we encourage our whanau to actively partake in Puna activities and field trips, korero maori to tamariki in the home and to voice their thoughts and desires for their tamariki to help create an environment for our tamariki that is stimulating, fun, safe and dynamic.

Each whanau is required to contribute and be a member of one or more sub-committees at the Puna which involve resource, maintenance, governance, whakawangungatanga and fundraising.
